HOTTEST NEWS TODAY!!! Claire Sweeney reveals aspect of Cassie’s behaviour she struggled with in Coronation Street – and it’s not the drugging

Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) has left Coronation Street fans gobsmacked with her increasingly sinister behaviour towards show legend Ken Barlow (William Roache).

Over the past few months, she has been drugging his tea with antihistamines and stealing from his credit card.

In recent scenes, she was finally caught out by Ken, and confessed everything, before being thrown out and disowned by her loved ones.

Cassie’s drugging of Ken led the show stalwart to suffer a heart attack – though actress Claire Sweeney revealed that her alter ego never meant for things to go that far.

‘I do think she genuinely cares for Ken. I’ve said this before, it’s almost like a Pygmalion/My Fair Lady relationship with them. He teaches her things, he takes her to the opera, he teaches her about wine, they’ve been to Portugal together,’ she recalled.

‘They actually laugh together and they really, really care for each other. It’s just to keep him a little bit sleepy and then he needs her. There was one point after the holiday when he did say to her, “I’m quite able now, I don’t need you any more,” and she went into survival mode.

‘You’ve got to look at Cassie’s history. She’s had no one take care of her. She was a prostitute at one point, she’s been abused, her mum didn’t really want to know her. Her mum used to step in and save her at her worst moments with the drugs and stuff, she was there for her, but she’s pretty much a survivor. With Ken, it’s not just Ken it’s a lifestyle.

‘She doesn’t want to harm Ken, she doesn’t want to hurt Ken. Just keep him a bit sleepy and then he needs her.’

Despite how extreme this move was from Cassie, it was actually the petty theft that actress Claire struggled to get her head around.

‘I always think it’s a personality trait. She can’t help herself. She’s come from the streets and she can’t help herself.

‘A little Ninja here and there, a little air fryer, a little juicer here and there, “I’m going to get two and flog it and no one will know the difference.”

‘She was really smart with Tracy and the hair straighteners. She just can’t help herself.

‘That’s the bit I’ve struggled with, as Claire. Everything else I’ve come to terms with, the antihistamine and stuff because she genuinely loves Ken, adores him.

‘It’s that stealing bit, and it’s the petty stealing. If she was going to do it properly she’d do it big-time and clear him out and give him a bit stronger medicine, but it’s just the petty stuff.’

However, she did see one upside to Cassie’s sudden influx of money: ‘Suddenly she’s got the nails – as Claire I love the fact that she was allowed to have a French manicure and wear a bit of mascara. I was like, “Yes! Keep the antihistamine going!”‘

Coronation Street Terror: Todd Faces Sinister Blackmail After Shock Arrest

The cobbles of Weatherfield are rarely quiet, and this week Coronation Street plunges into darker territory as Todd Grimshaw, long known for his troubled past and complicated…

The week ahead on Coronation Street promises to be nothing short of explosive, as Weatherfield finds itself plunged into a whirlwind of chaos when a shocking crime rocks the heart of the community. For years, the cobbled streets have served as the backdrop for stories of love, betrayal, and redemption, but this latest twist thrusts the neighborhood into a darker, more dangerous reality. The crime itself, brutal and unexpected, is not just about the act—it’s about the ripple effects that spread through every corner of the community, testing relationships, exposing hidden truths, and forcing characters to confront sides of themselves they’ve tried desperately to bury. At the center of the storm is the victim, someone who had become a familiar presence on the Street, their sudden plight leaving neighbors horrified and reeling. As police sirens pierce the air and whispers circulate from door to door, Weatherfield becomes a pressure cooker of fear and suspicion. Families who once trusted each other now find themselves questioning motives, alibis, and loyalties, while the rumor mill spins faster than ever. Debbie, already entangled in her own personal drama, becomes a reluctant witness to the unfolding investigation, her sharp eyes catching details that others might miss, but her involvement puts her squarely in the spotlight of suspicion as well. Kevin, torn between loyalty to his sister and his own fears, struggles to keep the family united even as secrets threaten to tear them apart. Carla, no stranger to turmoil, finds her business jeopardized by the shadow of the crime, as clients and employees alike feel the tremors of unease. Meanwhile, relationships unravel in the wake of suspicion: lovers question each other’s whereabouts on the night of the crime, and friends who once stood shoulder to shoulder now avoid eye contact in the Rovers. The police investigation, led by familiar faces, only heightens tensions as it becomes clear that this crime was no random act—it was targeted, calculated, and personal. Old grudges resurface, exposing bitter feuds that had long simmered beneath the surface of Weatherfield life, and soon the question shifts from who could have committed such an act? to who didn’t have a motive? In a place where every neighbor knows the intimate details of each other’s lives, trust becomes the rarest commodity. The emotional toll on the community is profound. Parents clutch their children tighter, fearful that the safety they once took for granted has been shattered. Couples face sleepless nights as guilt and suspicion gnaw at their consciences. For some, the crime reignites old traumas, dredging up painful memories of past violence on the Street, while others see it as an opportunity—an unsettling chance to settle old scores under the cover of chaos. The sheer unpredictability of the situation ensures that every scene crackles with tension, leaving viewers unable to guess what might happen next. For long-time fans, this storyline resonates deeply because it encapsulates what makes Coronation Street so powerful: its ability to merge the everyday rhythms of working-class life with sudden shocks of extraordinary drama. A simple trip to the corner shop or a pint in the Rovers can transform into a life-altering moment, and in this week of chaos, every conversation feels loaded, every glance carries suspicion. By week’s end, revelations begin to emerge, but instead of providing clarity, they only deepen the mystery. A crucial piece of evidence is discovered, implicating someone the community never thought capable of such violence. As the police close in, alliances shift, and neighbors scramble to protect themselves, their families, or their reputations. The shocking crime becomes more than a singular act; it becomes a mirror reflecting the fragility of trust in Weatherfield, where even the most familiar faces can suddenly appear dangerous. This week of chaos will be remembered as one of the most gripping chapters in recent memory, a reminder that Coronation Street thrives not only on romance and humor but also on its fearless ability to dive headfirst into the darkest corners of human nature.
