EastEnders fans made a baffling discovery about Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) phone contacts this week.
Despite being sworn enemies with Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), it seems Linda didn’t immediately delete her number after she caused Mick Carter’s (Danny Dyer) ‘death’ back on Christmas Day 2022.
In Wednesday’s episode, Linda was seen scrolling through her phone as she contacted son Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) while trying to set him up with Felix Baker (Matthew James Morrison).
And who should be lurking in her phone book other than Janine!
‘Deeply obsessed with Linda still having Janine in her contacts list,’ one fan wrote on X.
‘Why don’t they ever have nicknames for their contacts, I would have Janine under something very unsavoury if I was Linda …..’ said another.
One fan also spotted two notable absences in Linda’s contacts posting: ‘So she has Janine’s number but not George or Gina’s?’
Linda and Janine have a complicated history, which began when Janine returned to Walford in 2021 and soon got her feet under the table at The Vic.
She eventually got together with Linda’s husband Mick, after they’d struggled to get back on track after her affair with Max Branning (Jake Wood).
Janine then framed alcoholic Linda as being responsible for a car accident involving Linda’s daughter Annie, further alienating her from her family.
Mick and Janine married shortly afterwards, but the truth about Janine’s crimes came out on Christmas Day in 2022.
As Mick and Linda reunited, Janine attempted to flee Walford, sparking a high-stakes car chase that ended up with her and Linda plunging over a cliff and into the sea.
After Mick staged a rescue attempt, he has been missing and presumed dead ever since, while Janine was also arrested and jailed for framing Linda.
Meanwhile, Linda’s life unravelled in the wake of Mick’s disappearance, suffering further alcohol relapses and also stabbing Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) to death in The Vic.
However, after a spell in rehab, Linda has vowed to get her life back on track and recent scenes saw her agree to let Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) set her up on a date.
As she meets a new fella called Jeff, will Linda finally be able to move on from her beloved Mick?
