Apoilers Title: Is Mark Grossman Leaving Young & Restless? GH Audition Raises Eyebrows | Special Crossover 2025
Soap fans are buzzing with speculation after a revealing interview by The Young and the Restless star Mark Grossman, who opened up about his career journey—and a surprising past connection to General Hospital! In a candid appearance on Maurice Benard’s State of Mind podcast, Grossman detailed his unexpected road to becoming Adam Newman and shared that he once auditioned for GH before landing his iconic Y&R role.
Believe it or not, Grossman didn’t start out aiming for stardom. His first dream? Professional motocross racing. When that didn’t pan out, he dipped into modeling, which eventually led him to explore acting—even though he had no prior training or knowledge about the industry. He confessed he didn’t even know what a monologue was when he started auditioning in Arizona!
Things got serious when Grossman moved to Los Angeles. He auditioned multiple times for both The Young and the Restless and General Hospital. He gave credit to GH’s legendary casting director, Mark Teschner, for giving him crucial opportunities early on—even if he didn’t book a GH role. Those auditions gave him experience and confidence, which later helped him stand out during his Y&R audition.
Grossman described his Y&R screen test as completely overwhelming. He was thrown into high-pressure scenes with major stars Sharon Case (Sharon), Joshua Morrow (Nick), and Gina Tognoni (Phyllis at the time), feeling totally out of his depth—but he pushed through the nerves and earned the role.
Now, years later, fans are wondering: could a crossover be on the horizon? While network crossovers are rare, the idea of Adam Newman appearing in Port Charles is tantalizing. Grossman’s early GH ties add fuel to the fire—and viewers are left wondering if his journey might come full circle.
Would General Hospital ever welcome Adam Newman? Fans can only hope.
