EastEnders legend Lacey Turner has opened up about suffering two miscarriages, and revealed how they left her ‘uncontrollably sobbing’.
The Stacey Slater star is now a mother of three, but tried for a long time to have children with husband Matt Kay before giving birth to eldest daughter Dusty in 2019.
‘We tried for so long and it just didn’t happen and I thought okay, I didn’t realise it was such a small window, you just don’t really think about that,’ Lacey told Giovanna Fletcher on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast.
‘And then I started to have miscarriages and that’s when you go… I remember the first one, it was just terrible. I remember laying on the bed and I was just uncontrollably sobbing.
‘But I had this weird thing like, “Why are you crying? Why are you so sad for something you didn’t know? Something that is barely there.” I think actually the part of it is the shock of, “This is actually happening to me”.’
Following Dusty’s birth, Lacey and Matt went on to have son Trilby in 2021.
Earlier this year, they welcomed their third child, daughter Gipsy.
Lacey revealed which EastEnders co-stars found out about her pregnancy first
The 37-year-old also revealed how she made some show legends ‘fall to their knees’ after delivering the news that she was expecting on set.
Lacey explained how The Six – Letitia Dean, Gillian Taylforth, Kellie Bright, Diane Parish and Balvinder Sopal – were the first people she told about her pregnancy.
She had no choice but to reveal all after falling asleep onset while filming the court scenes in Dean Wicks’ murder trial.
Viewers will know that The Six framed Dean for the murder of Keanu Taylor, after covering for Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).

However, everything fell apart when Dean admitted to raping Linda in court in a bid to prove himself innocent of murder.
Eventually, Nish Panesar agreed to take the blame, and The Six got away with their murder coverup.
‘My head was on the table. The director must have thought, what has got into her?’ Lacey said of filming the scenes.
‘Because I’m not someone who relaxes, I’m always up and about and I didn’t help.
‘But I was in a room full of men who had no idea what was going on.

‘I was filming with the six women, you know, The Six…. We were in the Winnebago, and they were like, “oh, how are you feeling?”
‘And I was like, “well, I’m actually pregnant”. And they all literally fell to their knees. And I was like, “you’re the first people I’ve told!”.’
She went on to reveal how she knew they would soon start questioning why she kept falling asleep, and that she wouldn’t be able to get away with keeping it a secret for long.
‘Normally you can pop up to your dressing room, but I didn’t have a dressing room to hide [in]. I had nowhere to hide. I’m just stuck in the Winnebago with everyone looking at me.’
