Deal made as EastEnders teen begs for forgiveness after baby caught with drugs

Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) has had a difficult conversation with grandmother Jean (Gillian Wright) in EastEnders.

Earlier this week, the 14 year old resorted to desperate measures to numb her grief felt for father figure Martin Fowler (James Bye).

As viewers of the BBC soap know, poor Martin died in the aftermath of an explosion at the Queen Vic pub in February.

Lily was subsequently abandoned by her mum Stacey (Lacey Turner) – who was struggling herself – and the teen was forced to support her younger siblings.

On the day of the funeral, Stacey rocked up drunk and an explosive row broke out.

Feeling unable to say goodbye, Lily didn’t turn up at the church and decided to knock back a bottle of vodka with pal Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James).

Fuelled with rage, she then set fire to Martin’s fruit and veg stall and pinned the blame on Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton).

Stacey found out, and couldn’t make a breakthrough with her daughter. Lily even wished that her mother was dead.

Avani then suggested an alternative method to switch off – by smoking weed. With no cash, Lily stole the contents of the cab office petty cash tin and then met up with a dealer.

Bex Fowler (Jasmine Armfield) then found her sat in the caff, clearly high.

She offered to give Lily the money to pay back Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), on the condition that she stopped taking drugs and endangering her baby Charli.

When she returned home, Jean had found some weed in her bag and demanded answers.

As the drama continued in tonight’s episode, Lily was nowhere to be seen and a search party were trying to track her down.

With no clues as to where she might’ve disappeared to, Jean came home with Charli and noticed the infant fiddling with a plastic baggie, that still contained some of the substance inside.

She was horrified to think that her great granddaughter could’ve swallowed the contents or choked on the bag.

When Lily returned home, Jean tore strips off her, and she began to plead for forgiveness.

The road to recovery is going to be difficult, but Jean seemed willing to support her.

Lily handed over the cash that Bex had given her, and Jean promised not to trouble Stacey with the revelation.

However, this is soapland, and surely it’s only a matter of time before she finds out!

How will Lily cope now that she’s off the drugs, and will she keep to her deal with Jean?
