Matthew Wolfenden Reflects on Charley Webb Split: “It Was a Big Shock”
Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden has opened up about the end of his 15-year relationship with co-star Charley Webb, describing the separation as a “big shock.” The couple, who met on the ITV soap and share three children, announced their split in November 2023
Speaking on The Lewis Nicholls Show, Wolfenden revealed that the decision to separate was made by Webb. “We didn’t really drift apart,” he explained. “It was Charley’s decision. She decided that was what she wanted. She wanted to separate. It was a hard time for me.” He added that the timing was particularly challenging, as he had just left Emmerdale after 18 years and was preparing for a new role in the West End while caring for their children full-time.
Despite the unexpected nature of the breakup, Wolfenden emphasized that he and Webb have maintained an amicable relationship. “We are still friends – we have kids together. We are always going to have a relationship,” he said. The couple has implemented a week-on, week-off co-parenting arrangement to ensure stability for their children.Digital Spy+1HELLO!+1The Sun
