‘Debbie’s Not Going Anywhere!’: Corrie’s Sue Devaney Spills on What’s Next

‘Debbie’s Not Going Anywhere!’ – Sue Devaney Promises Big Things Ahead in Corrie

Coronation Street legend Sue Devaney has shut down any rumors about her departure from the cobbles, firmly stating, “Debbie’s not going anywhere!” In a candid new interview, the actress opened up about her love for the character of Debbie Webster, the thrilling journey ahead, and why she’s more excited than ever to stay on the beloved ITV soap.

Debbie Webster, who returned to Coronation Street in 2019 after a 34-year absence, has become one of the show’s most dynamic and entertaining characters. With her quick wit, sharp business mind, and unapologetic sass, Debbie has carved out a unique place in Weatherfield’s ever-changing landscape. Whether she’s scheming in the Bistro or meddling in family affairs, viewers can’t get enough of her fearless energy.

Sue Devaney, who first stepped into Debbie’s shoes as a teenager in the early 1980s, said coming back to the show as an adult was a “dream come true.” She explained: “I never imagined Debbie would return, let alone become such a huge part of the street. But here we are, and I’m loving every minute.”

Recent episodes have shown Debbie caught up in some serious drama, from business troubles to strained family ties. But according to Devaney, there’s still so much more to explore. “She’s a survivor,” Sue said. “She might stir the pot a bit, but underneath it all, she’s got heart. I think people see that now.”

While fans feared that Debbie might be written out following some tense storylines, Sue reassured them that the best is yet to come. “We’ve only scratched the surface with Debbie,” she teased. “There’s a big story brewing — and let’s just say, it’s going to shake things up!”

Though she kept tight-lipped about spoilers, Devaney hinted that Debbie will find herself at the center of some unexpected alliances, personal revelations, and even a bit of romance. “She’s not just a businesswoman,” Sue laughed. “There’s a lot more to her than cocktails and chaos!”

Debbie’s character has gone through immense evolution since her return — from being Kevin Webster’s mysterious sister to a savvy hotelier and full-time scene-stealer. Audiences have grown to love her flawed charm, fierce loyalty, and occasional bursts of vulnerability. For Sue Devaney, portraying such a multi-dimensional woman is an actor’s dream.
