On what began as a seemingly carefree and rebellious night, Summer and Nina’s decision to experiment with LSD turned into a harrowing descent into chaos on Coronation Street. The storyline, bold and unflinching, portrayed the fragile boundary between thrill-seeking curiosity and dangerous consequences. With Nina still reeling from past trauma and Summer increasingly overwhelmed by academic pressure and identity struggles, the two girls sought escape in the form of a psychedelic trip. It was intended to be a one-time thing—a private moment of freedom—but instead, it became one of the most disturbing nights of their young lives.
It all started with a house party thrown by a university friend of Summer’s. The atmosphere was energetic, wild, and brimming with the kind of reckless abandon that so often leads to bad choices. Summer, feeling isolated and under pressure from her recent academic failures, confided in Nina about her feelings of hopelessness. Nina, still coping with the emotional residue from Seb’s death and her struggles to feel “normal” again, found herself drawn to the idea of numbing her pain, even temporarily. When offered LSD by someone at the party, the two hesitated—but only briefly. Desperate for distraction and connection, they agreed, thinking they’d stick together and ride the high out in a safe space.
At first, everything seemed innocent enough. The girls laughed uncontrollably, marveled at the distorted colors of the room, and felt connected in a way they hadn’t in weeks. They wandered the streets, giggling and lost in an altered reality. But slowly, their experiences began to diverge. Summer’s anxiety started creeping in—tiny thoughts of self-doubt became monstrous hallucinations. She imagined people whispering about her, judging her, blaming her for every failure. Her vision warped, sounds echoed strangely, and familiar faces turned grotesque. The world, once euphoric, became hostile.
Nina, on the other hand, was plunged into emotional regression. Visions of Seb haunted her in vivid, surreal flashes. She believed she could hear his voice, feel his presence. At first, it comforted her—then it consumed her. She became convinced he was trying to reach her, that he was trapped and she needed to follow him. She wandered off into the night, leaving Summer behind without either of them realizing it in the haze of their trip.
Meanwhile, Summer was found crouching in the alleyway behind the Rovers, shaking and muttering to herself. Carla stumbled upon her while locking up and immediately realized something was wrong. Summer’s pupils were dilated, her words were incoherent, and she flinched at every noise. Carla called for help and stayed with her, trying to calm her down. The ambulance arrived quickly, but Summer resisted, lashing out in fear, until Carla gently convinced her she was safe.
But Nina was nowhere to be found.
As the street learned about what happened, panic spread. Roy, discovering Nina hadn’t returned home and learning about the drug incident, was devastated. He joined the search with Craig and other neighbors. Hours passed before someone spotted Nina near the canal—barefoot, soaking wet, and trying to wade into the freezing water. She was murmuring to herself, reaching out to something only she could see. Thankfully, Craig and Roy arrived just in time to pull her out before she slipped beneath the surface.
