But what’s more is that an unlikely suspect was revealed to be her killer.
As you’ll remember, shortly after the extended Mitchell clan arrived in Walford last year, it was revealed that Shireen had disappeared, with many people believing Harry was somehow involved.
After getting into a feud with local copper Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) Harry was later arrested, but his mum Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) provided him with a false alibi.
While the trail had since gone cold, the story was revisited last week when Nicola dropped the bombshell on Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Zack Hudson (James Farrar) that her ex-husband Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) had murdered Shireen.
Turns out that was not true, as many fans had predicted at the time.
The real story came out in Monday’s episode of the BBC soap after Harry received a visit from Shireen’s brother Asad.
Having admitted to Harry that he no longer suspected he was involved, Asad quickly pointed the finger at Teddy.
He claimed that a new witness had come forward with damning evidence against Teddy from the night of Shireen’s disappearance.
But after a family showdown, a panicked Nicola met with a creepy associate down a dark alleyway.
Discussing Shireen’s disappearance, she detailed how the new witness had clearly got their wires crossed with what they’d seen – as she was the one who killed Shireen!
Demanding to know where her body was, Nicola’s associate Benji revealed she’d been buried in a derelict industrial estate in Dartford.
However, it seems Nicola’s problems might just be beginning, as spoilers for later this week have revealed how she is desperate to put a halt to Teddy’s new business plan with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour).
Could it just so happen they happen to have plans for a certain derelict industrial estate in Dartford…?
