Paul Trueman was a fictional character in EastEnders, played by Gary Beadle, who first appeared in 2001. He was the estranged son of Patrick Trueman and younger brother of Anthony Trueman. Paul was known as a bit of a “bad boy” in Walford—often charming, reckless, and drawn into shady dealings.
Paul’s biggest downfall came when he got involved with drug dealer Andy Hunter. At first, he worked for Andy, but Paul grew increasingly desperate to get out of Andy’s control. His desperation led him to secretly become a police informant, feeding information about Andy’s criminal operations to the authorities.
Unfortunately for Paul, Andy eventually discovered his betrayal. In 2004, Andy ordered Paul’s murder. Paul was lured away and later found dead—he had been killed off-screen by Andy’s men. His death was devastating for his father, Patrick, who blamed himself for not being able to protect his son or stop him from going down a destructive path.
Paul’s murder was one of the darker storylines of the mid-2000s EastEnders, cementing Andy Hunter’s reputation as a ruthless villain, while also leaving a lasting impact on the Trueman family’s storylines.
